Art and Intellectual Property: a Case Study
Thursday May 30 at 6:30 pm
This event is organized by the Montreal Chapter of the Licensing Executive Society (LES) — an international association that has been in existence for over 50 years, reuniting professionals in intellectual property, licensing, and business development. The conference will discuss a recent litigation matter between Partenariat du Quartier des spectacles and CS Design, involving copyright and licensing issues. Jean-Michel Boudreau from the law firm IMK LLP and Conor Sampson from CS Design will share what we can learn from this fascinating case. Free.
Visiting Artist Michelle Mendlowitz
Talk: Tuesday, June 11 at 6:30 pm
at McClure Gallery
Demo on glazing: Tuesday, June 11 at 7:30 pm
in the ceramics studio
Michelle Mendlowitz is a Toronto based ceramic artist and instructor. Her work consists of both functional and sculptural objects. She is drawn to clay for its expressive nature as well as its ability to create utility. As an artist she is intrigued by layers. As a maker, process plays an important role in her work. Each working stage in a piece brings a new layer and each action leaves its mark on the finished results. The forms she creates are derived from landscapes and borrowed elements from nature, architecture and the human form. In English.
