VAC’s Annual Student Exhibition

Exhibition: April 19 to May 11, 2024
Vernissage: April 18 at 6 pm
Art Hive with Josepha Dumas: May 11, 10:30 am to 1 pm

A tradition for over 50 years, the VAC’s annual student exhibition celebrates the talents of students in our School of Art and the diversity of artistic production at the VAC. Over 100 artworks in a wide variety of mediums, including ceramics, jewellery, textiles, drawing, painting, collage, mixed media and more, will be presented in the VAC’s McClure Gallery, showcasing the work of students registered in VAC’s Winter 2024 session! Many of the artworks will be offered for sale, giving visitors a chance to acquire an original artwork at a reasonable price, and support an emerging Montreal artist!

Please join us on Saturday May 11 for an in-person ‘Art Hive’ with VAC instructor Josepha Dumas, inspired by the diverse artworks showcased in the exhibition. Art Hives are free, drop-in, mini-workshops where everyone is welcomed as an artist – no previous art-making experience is required. Just come with your curiosity and we provide the rest.  And don’t miss the vernissage, always the best party of the year at VAC!

The Visual Arts Centre, which operates the McClure Gallery, an art school and a community outreach programme, has been involved in the teaching of art for over 75 years. We are Canada’s largest independent, non-profit bilingual art school, offering over 300 courses to some 4,000 registrations each year – from absolute beginners, to students wishing to develop a portfolio, to professional artists looking to hone new skills. Our teaching approach balances the development of technical skills with personal expression, and our courses are open to anyone with a desire to learn.
