Julie Lequin is a visual artist. She works with video art, performance, sculpture, watercolor, writing, props and costumes. She is interested in humour, DIY and creating characters. She received a BFA from Concordia University (Montreal) in 2001 and an MFA from Art Center College of Design (Pasadena, CA, USA) in 2005. Julie has presented work across Canada, including La Centrale, Dare-Dare, McClure Gallery, Centre Clark, and Optica (Montreal); YYZ Artists’ Outlet (Toronto); and throughout the USA: Pitch Projects (Milwaukee); Utah Museum of Contemporary Art (Salt Lake City); White Columns (NYC).
This past year Julie attended a residency program at HIAP in Helsinki. Since 2006, she has received many grants from Canada Council for the Arts, Conseil des Arts et des Lettres du Québec, Sodec and California Art Foundation.
