Online Learning

Begin or continue your visual arts education in the comfort of your own home. Our online courses, led by teachers from the Visual Arts Centre, offer you the opportunity to develop your artistic knowledge and skills, interact with other students, and receive valuable advice from a professional art educator.

Courses of several levels are offered in different departments. The number of students per class is limited to ensure the quality of the experience. Please make sure you read the FAQ and Online Learning Policies below before registering.

FAQ

What is the ZOOM application?

Zoom is a virtual learning environment, used by many Universities, Colleges and organizations. It is easy to access and use. Zoom uses audio and video and all students will be seen and heard. When signing up for Zoom account, you will be asked to verify you’re 16 or older. Students under 16 are not eligible to sign up for Zoom account on their own and therefore, a parent must do so. Also, the parents of children under 18 will be required to complete our Zoom consent form (which will be sent to parents by email within a week following registration). Zoom can be accessed by visiting www.zoom.us or the App Store (if you choose to download the app). You can also access help at support@zoom.us.

How will I access my online course?

Upon registration, you will be sent the Class Meeting ID and the Password needed to gain access to the class. Each week, the password will change as a heightened security feature. You will be sent a unique password for each week’s class.

Who will be present during my online course?

Only registered students will have access to your online art course. The teacher will be present at all classes. Currently, none of our courses are recorded. Should we want to take any photographic images of your online class artwork, for use in marketing materials, we will ask permission prior to taking the image. We may ask that you photograph your work and email a copy to us for use on our website or other marketing materials, if you desire.

We need a minimum number of students for a class to run (the minimum number of students varies for each class). If a class is cancelled due to low enrolment, registrants will receive a full refund or credit.

Students must submit a registration form and payment online to complete enrollment in a virtual program. Registration forms are processed on a first-come, first-served basis. Use the ‘Register Online Now’ button below the class description to access our secure online registration form. Unfortunately, we cannot hold a spot in the class without a registration form or payment. Registrations cannot be taken by phone or by email at the present time.
