This workshop offers a textile approach to paper, a powerful creative tool. Using the momigami technique, we’ll explore different ways of modifying the surface of papers. We’ll use different cellulose starches, including konnyaku, to strengthen papers while giving them texture and flexibility. A variety of Japanese papers will be offered for hands-on learning. This technique, which can be adapted to all types of paper, will enable participants to experiment with other papers of their choice: paper scraps or recycled papers of all kinds.
The knowledge acquired will enable participants to create a repertoire of textile paper samples to combine with other artistic techniques. Open to all levels.

Silverpoint, the Renaissance forerunner of the graphite pencil, literally means drawing with a silver tip on a paper or wood surface that has been coated with white pigment. Particles of silver leave their delicate traces and shimmering tones, which continue to oxidise and deepen over time. Inspired by Da Vinci, Dürer, Raphael, and various contemporary artists, we will adopt this beautiful technique to capture light and shadow in a still-life subject.
