This course is an introduction to the expansive possibilities of tapestry weaving as a visual art medium. We will explore various approaches to this versatile technique, which requires no specialized equipment. Students will discover a diverse selection of contemporary tapestry artists as inspiration. Over seven weeks, we will build portable frame looms and experiment with colour, pattern, texture, imagery, and the sculptural potential of tapestry. Creative finishing and display methods will also be discussed. For beginners. Some materials included.
